Module seven · Set your first alert

What is a price alert, and how wide should a first one be?

A price alert is a rule: if this market crosses this level, tell me. It replaces checking constantly with being told when it matters. A first alert should be wide, at a level far enough from today's price that ordinary movement does not trip it, so that it means something when it fires.

WHY THIS MATTERS

A watchlist plus an alert is what the platform counts as a fully active account, and the alert is the bigger shift: it turns Vulcan from something you check into something that checks on you. That is the habit that predicts whether you are still here in a month.

THE IDEA

An alert is a rule you write once: if this market crosses this price, or meets this condition, notify me. The anxious habit of checking is replaced by the calm one of waiting to be told.

Beginner alerts should be wide, not tight. Set a level around today's price that ordinary daily movement will not reach. A hair trigger gives you noise and teaches you to ignore your own alerts; a wide one fires rarely and means it.

One alert on one market is enough to start. You can always add another. You cannot easily unlearn ignoring them.
